Learn to drive
the right way.
The state-required 30-hour course, behind-the-wheel training and test preparation, taught by DPS-certified instructors who do this every day.
Find the course your state accepts
Driver education rules differ in every state. Choose yours and we will show what applies to you.
Study material and permit test prep are open to students anywhere in the United States. State-approved drivers ed and in-car training are offered where we hold a licence.
Six reasons parents pick a licensed school
A first licence is a serious step. Here is what changes when the teaching is done properly.
Approved, not improvised
Licensed by the state Department of Public Safety. Your hours count toward the state requirement and the certificate is accepted at the DPS office.
Certified instructors only
Every behind-the-wheel hour is taught by a state-certified instructor in a dual-brake car, never a volunteer, never someone untrained.
Your schedule, not ours
The classroom portion is fully online. Start tonight, stop mid-module, and pick up on any device without losing your place.
We come to you
In-car lessons include pickup and drop-off inside our service area, so nobody has to arrange a lift to a training centre.
Parents can see progress
A dashboard shows completed modules, time studied and upcoming sessions, so you know where things stand without asking.
A person answers
Questions about permits, paperwork or scheduling reach a real person who replies within the hour. No queue, no bot.
Answer a real permit question right now
These come from the same pool the DPS exam draws on. Answer one and you will see exactly how the full test prep works — including why the right answer is right.
- 50 questions, each with the answer explained
- Full study guide, 89 pages with diagrams
- Retake as often as you like

Three ways to get licensed
Whether you are starting from nothing or just need the in-car hours, there is a route that fits.
Knowledge Test Prep
Focused preparation for the DPS knowledge exam, practice tests drawn from the real question pool, a study guide, and the areas most people fail on.
30 hours online Drivers Ed
The state-required 30-hour driver education course, delivered online by DPS-certified instructors. Covers road law, signs, hazard awareness and everything the knowledge test asks.
Behind the Wheel Training
Six hours of one-on-one instruction in a dual-brake training vehicle. Residential streets, highway driving, parking and manoeuvres, with pickup and drop-off included.
From learner to licensed driver
Every new driver passes the same four milestones. Here is what each one asks of you, and what we handle along the way.
Pass the permit test
Practice questions built around the DPS knowledge exam show what needs work, so the written test holds no surprises.
Build road confidence
Quiet streets first, then traffic, highways and parking, with a calm instructor and a brake on their side of the car.
Earn your certificate
Finish the course and your completion certificate is issued in your name, ready before the DPS asks for it.
Take the road test
Arrive steady and well practised. If the first try falls short, our retraining guarantee gets you back on the road.

Every in-car hour is taught by a DPS-certified instructor. You will know who before the first session.

A school built around the roads you drive
Two decades of teaching first-time drivers, with instructors who have spent their careers on the road.
Magnolia State Driving Academy is approved by the state Department of Public Safety to deliver the state-required 30-hour driver education programme. That approval is not a formality — it means the syllabus, the hours and the instructors have all been checked against the state’s own standard.
Our story
For more than twenty years our instructors have taught first-time drivers across north-west Mississippi. The roads, the cars and the rules have all changed in that time, but what works has not: patience, plenty of practice on real roads, and an instructor in the passenger seat who has seen every mistake before and knows how to fix it calmly.
Most of our students are teenagers getting their first licence, but adults who never learned, or who want their confidence back, sit in the same seat. Everyone gets the same thing: a clear plan, honest feedback and as much time as it takes.
Your hours count
The hours you complete here are recognised. The certificate is accepted at the DPS office, and the person in the passenger seat has taught hundreds of students before you.
The roads you actually drive
Interstates and merging traffic, two-lane highways, the school run, parking and the first solo trip across town — the situations new drivers actually meet, not theory alone.
The first year matters most
New drivers are the most at-risk group on any road. Getting that first year right is the whole job, and that is what we are here for.
Where we pick you up
The online course is open to students in every state. Behind-the-wheel lessons include collection and return across the towns listed below.
DeSoto · Tate · Marshall · Tunica · Panola counties

What families tell us afterwards
Reviews from students who passed and the parents who booked for them.
Had a wonderful experience with our daughter’s driving instructor Mr. Jones. He was incredibly timely, professional, and knowledgeable throughout the training process. He made our daughter feel comfortable and relaxed behind the wheel, which was so important for her confidence.
Mr. Jones was a fantastic instructor for my daughter. He was professional, kind, and knowledgeable. I will be requesting his services again for her younger siblings.
Working with Juan was the best! From the beginning his communication was great. On the first day he had my son drive around — kept me in the loop of what he was planning to do and where to go. Also sent me videos of my son’s driving experiences.
Mr. Jones is an absolutely fantastic driving instructor! He taught all three of my kids, and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. He is patient, kind, calm, and very encouraging. He made each of my kids feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel.
Answers before you enroll
The things parents and students ask us most. Anything else, just call.
What you will actually learn
Not a list of products, but the skills behind them: the habits that keep new drivers out of crashes, the rules the written test checks, and the control you only build on real roads.
Safe driving habits
Defensive driving, the real cost of a glance at a phone, alcohol and drug impairment, seatbelts and child restraints, insurance and financial responsibility, and how to handle a traffic stop calmly. Each topic is a short module with video, so the lessons stay with you long after the course ends.

Regulatory and warning signs, traffic signals, pavement markings, right-of-way and speed limits: the areas the DPS knowledge exam leans on most. Practice questions explain why each answer is right, so you remember the rule itself instead of guessing on test day.

Mirror and blind-spot checks, smooth braking, lane changes, four-way stops, merging onto the highway and parking in tight spaces. Each skill is practised on real roads, step by step, until it feels routine rather than something you have to think through.
