01Who we are
This policy covers Magnolia State Driving Academy ("we", "us"), the website at magnoliadriver.com, the student and parent dashboards, and the in-car lessons we arrange. It explains how we handle the personal information of everyone who uses them.
By creating an account or enrolling, you agree to the practices described here. If you are enrolling a student under 18, you are agreeing on their behalf.
02Information we collect
We only ask for what we need to teach the course, issue the certificate and arrange lessons:
- Account details: name, email address, phone number and a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form).
- Student details: date of birth, address, city and state, and anything the state requires us to record for a completion certificate.
- Course activity: modules completed, time studied, quiz answers and scores, and certificates issued.
- Behind-the-wheel bookings: pickup location, chosen dates and times, the assigned instructor and session notes.
- Payment records: what was bought, the amount, the date and the result. Card numbers are handled by the payment processor, not by us.
- Messages: anything you send us by email, phone, WhatsApp or the chat on this website.
- Basic visit data: pages viewed, time on page, browser type and an approximate location (country, region and city) worked out from your IP address.
03How we use it
Your information is used to:
- create and run your account and give you access to the course you bought;
- track your progress, save your place and issue your completion certificate;
- schedule in-car sessions, assign an instructor and arrange pickup and drop-off;
- take payments, send receipts and handle refunds;
- answer questions and send messages about your course, such as reminders and schedule changes;
- keep the site secure, prevent fraud and fix problems; and
- meet the record-keeping rules that apply to a licensed driving school.
We do not use your information for automated decisions about you, and we do not build advertising profiles.
04Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only where it is needed:
- Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal and Authorize.Net) to take and refund payments. They handle your card details under their own privacy policies.
- Our instructors, who see the name, phone number, pickup address and booking details of the students they teach.
- Service providers that host the website, store data and send email for us, under agreements to keep it confidential.
- Parents or guardians who enrolled a student under 18, who may see that student’s progress.
- Government agencies such as the Department of Public Safety, where the law or a completion certificate requires it, or when we are legally required to respond to a court order.
05Cookies and tracking
The site keeps a few small items in your browser so it works properly: your sign-in session, and a saved copy of the enrollment form so a dropped connection does not wipe what you typed. That form copy stays on your device and is cleared when your order completes.
To count visits we use our own simple tracker. It stores an anonymous visitor ID in your browser, uses no cookies and no third-party advertising tools, and does not identify you by name.
You can clear stored site data at any time in your browser settings. The site will still work, although you may need to sign in again.
06Students under 18
Many of our students are teenagers. We collect a minor’s information only to provide the course and lessons a parent or guardian has arranged, and we keep the parent or guardian informed of progress.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
07How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, staff access is limited to the people who need it, and payment details never touch our servers.
No system is completely secure, so please choose a strong password, keep it private and tell us straight away if you think your account has been used by someone else.
08How long we keep it
We keep account and course records for as long as your account is open, and afterwards for as long as a licensed driving school must keep training and certificate records, or as needed to settle disputes and meet tax and accounting rules.
When information is no longer needed we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
09Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your account and information, except records we must keep by law; or
- stop sending you optional messages.
Email info@magnoliadriver.com from the address on your account. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, your state’s privacy law may give you further rights; we will honour them.
10Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we will also let account holders know by email before the change takes effect.
Still have a question?
A real person at the office will answer. We reply to email within one business day, and usually much sooner.
